The 600.

The evening of April 9th 2012 passed with many marking this Monday Easter holiday observation with the return to their homes after a break away, or generally as just another night to watch garbage TV. But a little after 10pm in New Zealand, I sent my 600th shoutcast live. It wasn’t the 600th match I’ve commentated, but it was number 600 as far as recorded matches, and the statistics kept, showed. And it was a good ‘un.

Back in July 2008, I started a commentary career with Gamestah – starting as one of a select group of casters who had the fortune of casting alongside Momowang. It was CyberGamer’s Invite level league, Season 1, and the New Zealand based, sila took on Qlimax Crew on Crossfire as my maiden match as a co-caster in this audio only extravaganza. Recalling the match, the post xLAN hangover kicked sila in the nuts as they struggled for a few weeks to get back in to their Call of Duty 4, and Qlimax Crew took advantage. About 6 months ago Razer came out with a campaign that stated “PC Gaming is not dead” and sent us to a campaign website. This campaign was all about the release of the Razer Blade – possibly one of the greatest innovations Razer has had, and will massively shift the space Razer as a company is in. The campaign was good, albeit the push behind it was a bit frustrating – PC Gaming….. Dead? What gives?

99 Problems? Sure, but you will love every one: FPS Wars – Round 2

The beta for BF3 went live a week ago, and although I played this a few months ago in Los Angeles at E3 this year, it is a very different experience playing with those you know, on your own equipment, and generally with the hype that has surrounded the game since E3. I’ve had time to digest the issues that DICE currently face, as well as the general thoughts of gamers, and Iíve also taken in the readings of many published articles.

I’ve played for a good few hours now, and in fact in recent times have played more hours of Battlefield 3′s beta than I have of any other game in my library of options. There is good reason for this, but one of which is my attitude to the game, alongside how the game looks. For this I must give a bit of background…… Cue the Scooby Doo scene changing music……
