7 days of Arseynimz – v.1

With so many things happening around the gaming space of late, I thought what better than to give everyone an update of what I’ve been involved with. Sometimes small tid bits of information can be interesting to many, so I thought I’d do a regular piece on my typically mundane, but sometimes cool!

Semi-Professional Gaming – a concept, or a dream?

Over the Christmas and New Year break, I sat myself down in front of the TV, and watched a lot of cricket. T20 in fact. Big Bash T20 to be precise, and some  NZ HRV Cup when the weather wasn’t being horrid. While watching the cricket I started thinking – they have a semi-pro structure, cricket in general does too, most sports do, or are starting to….. why can this structure not be implemented in to gaming to steadily assist the progression of competitive gaming.

The concept in T20 cricket is not dis-similar to that of what CGS had a number of years ago, and what other sports implement in general. However, rather than going full frontal in to a complete professional set up like CGS was, the best way forward is to harness the growing gaming industry support, and the growing interest in what competitive gaming is becoming and can provide to sponsors, and to look at  Semi-Professional Gaming League set up.

Thus, a progression that allows a league or tournament to grow with a League Administration, rule refinement and concept refinement is the best way to work through what is in effect a very business non-savvy community in general – full professionalism requires some business experience and structures to ensure all parties have protections in place. So with the above thoughts and information in place, the following has been grafted based on an initial white paper, and further discussion with various admins. More…

Sydney Gamers League 6 – Call of Duty 4 LAN Summary

A big weekend was had at the Sydney Gamers League maiden outing for 2012, and it deserves an epic post of the action I was a part of, but also of the action that Gamestah managed to put together for the weekend’s Call of Duty 4, and it’s community. We managed to get to 10 matches in some shape or form, we took a ton of photos and even managed a few interviews. Below is a summary of the matches, the interviews, and a short gallery of some of the photos I took from the event.

Of course, don’t forget you can find all of the games, coverage and more on the Gamestah website, and the entire gallery of photos on the Gamestah Facebook page here for day 1, and here for day 2.

Gamestah CoD4 Highlight Reel #2

The second in this series of CyberGamer Season 6 Call of Duty 4 Highlight reels. I learnt a lot during this one, and added a few extra bits and pieces to try out some effects.

This second compilation is again only 3 matches, and I have another 3 more matches of the regular season to edit, and then on to finals. Again, the idea is not to have a pro-edit, but more a bit of action along with some of the Gamestah hilarity. Enjoy!
